Shabbat and Yom Tov Meals

Give the Gift of Shabbat to Families in Need

Sponsoring guests with food on Shabbat is not just for the poor — all community needs are considered blessed, particularly on Shabbat!

These food package values are supported by volunteer hosts over Shabbat, and/or Yom Tov, or other annual holy days such as significant Yahrzeits.

Sponsorship can include preparation of food purchased for community events.

These sponsorships are processed through relationships with numerous synagogues and community leaders who are known to adhere to kashrut standards, and typically help host and support travellers visiting cities around Israel. The families are considered in need and require the sponsorship to provide the meals. They are typically not paid for their own time and effort — the sponsorship covers the raw ingredients.

Food packages are generally given to those less well off, in addition to whole-community event sponsorships.

Participating organisations include JLTV, AQM, YTD and Breslov, as examples of many.
